One of the show-places of Jászapáti is the open-air bath with its sodium hydrogen carbonate water. The bath was build at the beginning of the 1960s and its water was qualified successfully as a medicinal water in the spring of the year 2002. On a temperature of 45 °C the water shoots out from a well of a 805 m depth. In the summer season the spa expects its visitors with 6 basins (a swimming pool, a curative, a children, a round, a training and a thermal basin). In the winter season 2 pools are covered. Playing in the beach football field and tennis courts can serve the active recreation.
The curative power of the thermal springs of Jászapáti has been proved as excellent among patients under a disease of knee-joint and hip-joint arthrosis. The water is also suitable for traumatological and surgical after-treatment. As the effect of the medicinal water a so called "bathing reaction" can develop at the beginning of the cure which can be shown as light dizziness, discomfort and some slightly increased aches. These symptoms being characteristic to the bathing reaction can stop spontaneously after missing one or two treatments. Achieving permanent recovery, it is recommended by the rheumatologists to take 2 times 30 minutes long bathing at least in a course 2 weeks.
